I dunno what steps they took in the mean time, but I have heard criticism of ypg that they aren't well organised, while donbass has lots of military veterans and organised workers so maybe that plays a role
That said, what BHPN said was persuasive and I need to reflect upon my own fascination with the spectacle of late capitalism and belief in the might of imperialism. I will admit that I find myself fantasizing in a Spanish-Civil-War kind of way about joining LeninLover69, but I have the privilege to be able to engage in certain other actions in the heart of the empire, so...
And yeah, the YPG probably don't have much of a future after The Lion Assad wins this thing.

stop funding them. this involves writing walden 3.0 through a series of internet posts
It's a good and brave thing to do, but it's also probably the product of mental disease or terminal failsonism which means people will never do this in meaningful numbers which means we probably are better off marching down main street and demanding CIA stop funding Isis because that also will likely be low impact but at least people would do it.

Darn it, I keep writing ISIS on my checks!

The YPG contains practically every significant anti-revisionist Marxist-Leninist party that is currently engaged in revolutionary warfare against the Turkish state. questioning the social credentials of a movement that has the mlkp & tkp/ml as active & central participants is idiotic. Apoism is a necessary quality of the Rojava revolution to the extent that it facilitates the collaboration of disparate communist currents in a united front but it is not the universal character of its participants, in spite of what first world anarchists want you to think
i also fail to see any meaningful distinction in terms of efficacy between mitigating the financing of imperialism at the centre and destroying the vehicles of imperialism in the periphery. both actively harm the political machinations of such and hurt the interests of those who pursue it. attempts to seperate "cause" from "symptom" in any clean sense is meaningless because causes are only ever perceivable through their effects. of course the motivating force here is some impersonal logic operating from the core but you can only actually engage with this by subverting the material process of its realisation. if fighting isis on the ground is merely targeting "symptom" then so is fighting isis by attacking the legal basis for their funding in the developed world
Besides that i agree with Keven

like, the usual modes of enforcement still apply even if DoD is being characteristically coy about coordination with kurdish groups. it's not really going to chap their asses much to put YPG on a list.
we should of course continue to dismiss the dumb as all hell orientalist narrative focused on Assad as an individual
