This shit is incredibly lit, right now there are allegations that Park consulted Soon Sil and other cultists for 7 hours over the MV Sewol incident (that boat that sank, killing 240ish ppl.) Worth note, also, that Soon Sil's father, Choi Tae-min was super close with Park's father, notable ex-dictator, and appears to have had close ties w/ Park too, from a very young age.

EDIT:
Also, when the KCIA killed Park Chung-hee, his close connections to Choi Tae-Min were regularly floated as one (of many) reasons for the assassination.

Most cults I hear about are either originating in capitalist countries or sponsored by them. Canada had a PM who used to consult seances of his dead mother and dead dog on how to administer policy. There's likely a connection there.
