So probably not many of you know because I'm pretty quiet on here, but I'm fluent in Polish and fairly familiar with the political scene there. Lately, I've been keeping up with the exploits of a certain political figure by the name of Mateusz Piskorski.

So this guy has a pretty storied history and the anti-racist left have been pretty good about keeping track of it. Firstly, his political career as a student had him joining a fairly normal conservative peasant party called the Polish People's Party, who are socially conservative farmer's rights types. But the thing about this stuff is that most people who are politically active in Poland are also in like secret cults and shit. So this guys cult of choice was something called NIKLOT, which was a neo-nazi organization whos general mood I think can be inferred from this image.
Anyway, these aren't just your run of the mill nazis, these are the "we hate America and want a pan-slavic political union to run the affairs of eastern europe" types. They were influenced by like pre-war fascism, but a really weird variety, and Piskorski would keep quite a lot of his foundational political ideology from this. Eurasianism is seemingly the only constant in this dude's life.
He eventually became bored of the fairly well institutionalized Polish People's Party and joined "Self-Defence of the Republic of Poland" or "Samoobrana" which was a slightly more radicla peasant politics organization. Here he can be seen in front of their logo, this was around 2002.
This is where the guy picked up most of his political expertise, I won't bore you with the actual shit he did but basically he was a mildly succesful politician for a tiny party that would later more or less totally crumble.
He would go on to vacillate between trying to get his own constinuency and supporting the PiS candidates, PiS being fairly run of the mill Catholic types who are very into the Fatherland but are more or less a few shades above fascist. What really stuns me is that in 2011 this deranged neo-nazi was on the parliamentary election lists as a candidate of the Polish Labour Party, a tiny Trotskyist grouping that's more or less the equivalent of SAlt or whatever. Here's an image if you find this hard to believe.
So already you're probably thinking, what the fuck, this is the most insane political trajectory ever? Well considering I think most of you were fascists as teenagers, lets give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he finally realized that socialism (albeit Trotskyite softcore social democracy) was the way forward and repented for his racist views.
Haha. That was a nice thought to momentarily entertain. Here he is fairly recently speaking at a pro-donbass event, except if you look closely at the megaphone, it's literally covered with crazy Polish falangist symbols.
Those are the symbols of something called the "Ruch Narodowy" (National Movement) which has for some reason seats in some part of the Polish government or whatever and are bona fide hardcore fascists. The funny part hasn't even really settled in for a guy who's so far a social democratic trotskyite nazi.
He would in 2015 found a political party called "Zmiana" (Change)
Basically they're a lot like internet leftists in that they're insane racists and totally unhinged in their dedication to some sort of weird national mythology, except also anti-capitalist and pro-peace. They call themselves a party of social justice fairly regularly. So what kind of stuff do they get up to? Well for one, they sue people for spreading anti-Putin propaganda. For two they try and get Ukrainian separatists into the country to speak at their events. Poland is basically full of NATO bases and is really anti-Russia, so this is hilarious for a whole slew of reasons. Mainly because they're surprised every time someone gets arrested for this.
So why's Piskorski in the news now? Well he got arrested for supposedly spying for "Russia, China, and Iraq". I think that's a fairly ludicrous suggestion mainly because I think the secret services of all those countries can do a lot better than some weird ass insane dude who has been across more or less the entire political spectrum in the span of like seven years. Anyway, here's a letter he sent from prison. Most people in his party think he got arrested because the NATO summit in Warsaw was coming up and he was one of the major figures protesting it. Which is probably at least a little true.
So basically the political situation is so thoroughly fucked up in eastern europe that after a few years of political activity dedicated neo-nazis can rebrand themselves as anti-imperialist leftists fighting for the socialist memory of Poland. I think the funniest thing is that he still blogs (over here http://mateuszpiskorski.blog.onet.pl/ ) about how gay people and democracy are western evils, despite being ostensibly a leftist now. I thought this kind of thing would be pretty entertaining for you guys and hope my inane obsession with this at least produced a few chuckles.

Sounds like this persons fascism is just one stance on one small issue, and that otherwise they are politically progressive. So yeah they want to exterminate / drive out inferior races, I'm sure the Polish government will say "nyet" or whatever, the program just doesnt have legs under it. Historically, a non-starter. Look, they support the breakup of NATO, they support womens right to abort, they support free lunch programs in schools, but no, we cant work with them because we want to quibble about whether race war is inevitable... If not wiping out Jews and Muslims is the hill the Left wants to die on, it's gonna be a very crowded hill, is what I'm sayin. I have 235 more examples of this same joke btw
