Kim Jong Un is putting on weight….apparently quite a bit of it. Maybe you’ve noticed the North Korean leader looks a little chunkier than he used to if you pay attention to those occasional scenes from government television.

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service pays close attention—and told the parliament’s intelligence committee on Friday that Kim has packed on nearly ninety pounds over the last four years….estimating he currently tips the scales at a little under 300 pounds.

The spies are involved in this weight-watching because of the potential health effects. The chair of the intelligence committee says Kim is suffering from insomnia and some unidentified diseases associated with obesity. He adds that the North Korean leader is under a lot of stress because of fears about his safety….which has led to binge eating and extensive drinking.

That cyst may have caused muscle or nerve damage and prompted him to have ankle surgery between September and October, lawmaker Lee Cheol-woo said.

Washington (CNN) The Obama administration on Wednesday slapped sanctions on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and 10 other regime officials for their alleged complicity in human rights abuses against the North Korean people.

The move marked the first time Washington sanctioned Kim Jong Un personally. Administration officials said Kim was "ultimately responsible" for what they called "North Korea's notorious abuses of human rights."

"Under Kim Jong Un, North Korea continues to inflict intolerable cruelty and hardship on millions of its own people, including extrajudicial killings, forced labor, and torture," Acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Adam J. Szubin said in a statement announcing the new action.

Chinese websites have again blocked searches for "Fatty Kim the Third", as many Chinese mockingly call North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, with China's foreign ministry saying it did not approve of ridiculing foreign leaders.

Chinese internet users began reporting last week that searches on the Twitter-like microblogging site Weibo and search engine Baidu for the expression returned no results, the normal sign that something is being blocked despite its wide usage.
