it's kinda funny because i've purposely avoided posting since having the account created because i did the (i think) normal thing and lurked (this has been led up to since like... summer 2013 if we wanna trace back forum/social media marxist groups related to LF), for a couple reasons. one is that at a certain stage of a person's radical development, they're only there to learn, there is very little they can contribute to discussions that involve a level of information/practice they haven't yet attained. two is the Forums Discipline thing— posting style, humor, knowing people well enough to take part in the banter. which is actually... kinda important lol. i'm not even active here and i hate seeing this place flooded with a buncha people who clearly don't share my ideas about this because what they do is seriously downgrade the average quality of the discussion, even if those discussions have a ton of Pig Poop Balls, goatse, jaded irreverence. hell i still think that stuff helps if you're good at it and do it in the appropriate context.
this really shouldn't have needed much explanation but fuck if you're a new poster please just like... read a little bit more before asking certain questions/lurk WAY more before trying to be funny if you really have to go there. i guess in some cases part of it is trying to establish connections with people? learn to delay gratification imo. establishing connections with people takes time and work and it's this petty bourgeois attitude that struggles to ignore that. those are challenges that should be approached as exciting rather than boring. i mean we're socialists.

i'm also speaking from experience at having been a socially stunted teen so there's maybe a little projection involved but whatever.

theres a famous old dumb murray leinster story about human+alien ship bumping into each other and neither can leave cos they're scared the other party will follow them back home and destroy their planet because the nature of space man is conflict, in a word, war. it gets resolved in some stupid way but there was apparently a soviet counterblast to this where the participants greet each other in th e brotherhood of interstellar communism and depart in a haze of ionized vodka
