so why is it so hot in the arctic when it should be cold and shit, like -10c at least?

here's what the polar jet stream looked like on Friday 13th (lol):

orientation is looking top down with scandinavia at the bottom. As you can see its wobbly and all over the place (bad and shit).

Well lets upgrade that (16th, modelled):

O_o fuuuuuu, see that bigass fork of air that funnels directly into the arctic, thats worse and shitter and shold not happen because its p much a hairdryer pointed at the arctic in may

theres an increesing liklyhood that this will result in no ice in the arctic by summer this year, or if not then sometime within the next 4 years. which will quickly cook the arctic ocean preventing the formation of new sea ice, and melt all the permafrost both land and subsea

The two people in the world out of a population of >7 billion who study arctic methane deposits state that no ice in the arctic makes the liklyhood of a rapid >50Gt release of methane into the atmosphere very likely on a decadal scale (thats 10x whats in the atmosphere atm). They are already seeing rising methane emissions in northern russia and it is not an exageration to say a release of even a fraction of the >100Gt of methane thats trapped up in the arctic would be the end of the whole damn world

heres one of them, Dr Shakhova talking about it if u need more info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx1Jxk6kjbQ

id recomend watching the arctic methane emergency group talking at cop20 in 2014 in which they recommed everyone starts praying really hard lol:

Same except then we cut to the asteroid in space and it's a computer graphic of some red pixels and a chart next to it where the pixels are more blue and only go 93% as high.

put this together from climate reanalyser, you can look at the whole thing here: http://cci-reanalyzer.org/Forecasts/#ARC-LEA

its only one frame per day rather than every 3h but it demonstrates what ive been going on about, on the 16th-20th you can see a large blob of >0C air rising from eastern siberia, passing over the arctic and then down thru the canadian archipelago and 20th-23rd u see another large >0C blob of warm air rising up out of western sibera and making its way into the centre of the arctic. By the last frame the majority of the arctic is at or above 0C. This is all as a direct result of the increesingly 'wavy' polar jet stream, also resonsible for the downdrive of polar air causing the eastern US blizzard this winter. anyway, unusual for may lol

(the last frame is a different time of day so its a bit messed up with the land temps)

heres what the arctic looks like at the moment (from Lance-modis: https://lance.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/imagery/subsets/?mosaic=Arctic.2016136.terra.4km) if anyone was wondering what a real image of whats going on looks like (15th May):

u can see clearly the beaufort (N of alaska) is completly broken up with large areas ice free and with large cracks extending across the north of Greenland. Other areas of interest are the currently fracturing ice along the N of siberia and the rapidly retrating ice around Svalbard and the islands to the east.

confirmed arctic oceanographer friend that this is all a month early, so those forum guys are not crazy (i just had to check, i don't trust anyone who posts in forums)
#68
also some of you may not be aware that northeastern alberta (second tall rectangular province from the left) has been one huge forest fire for a couple of weeks, also that's where all the tar sands are, mixed in with the trees, so it's a good ol time near 60 degrees north

3 of the 4 british experts on arctic sea ice die within a few months of each other, 2 in jan and 1 in april 2013 and the 4th thought that someone had tried to kill them. Coincidence? probably but in these final days I don't rule anything out and regardless holy shit that is some terrible luck

and regardless of actual murders the firing of john church by the auz govt, world leading sea leavel rise expert in the middle of a research trip just a couple days ago is just the latest in the capitalist conspiracy against earth systems scientists who dont toe the idealist fascist line that everything will be fine forever.

as a further example, as drcat posted canadian arctic researchers were censored by the govt for the past 9 years about telling people about how the global capitalist scum have destroyed the whole fucking world e.g. here: http://www.nature.com/news/nine-years-of-censorship-1.19842 and thats nt just a canadian thing

knowing first hand self coensorship and emotional policing in how totaly fucked everything that is in any way related to the environment is, enforced thru the combination of funding cuts and denial of funding for anything that disagrees with the capitalist lie, self censorship to protect positions and funding, actual censorship, threats and actual murder e.g. here enforced emotional restraint, firing and ostracising of anyone outspoken and then shoehorning arselickers into those positions as well as the role capitalist greenwashing fromnts like 350.org or whatever in selling the people of this fucked up planet that everything is fine if we just use a recyclable bag and turn off the lights while the basis of their entire material existence is sold off for the profit of the bourgiousie settiing fire to the entire house and saying don'd worry itll burn bright forever, i am angry as all fuck

fuck this shit. fuck everything. i think this latest shit with the arctic ice, despite the fact that ive known its been coming for years, has finally pushed nme over the edge into total breakdown,

#71
western european dark ages, but for everybody this time
#72
even if it doesn't all get fucked this year it will all be soon.
#73
also remember a few months ago australia said "ok the science is done, global warming is real, so we don't need climate scientists anymore" and canned like the whole agency.
#74
at least the heat and ash from the alberta fort mcmurray widlfire was carried south, the siberian wildfires raging at the moment (in fukcking may for fuck sake) are being jet streamed straght into the arctic: http://siberiantimes.com/ecology/others/news/n0674-wildfires-rage-in-siberia-and-russian-far-east/

heres what that looks like in carbon monoxide emissions fukkin lmao @ >18000ppbv

for comparison heres what klanada looks like rite now:

just funnel that shit rite into the arctic or somethin i dont care anymore
