these sort of splits probably make a lot more sense if you just imagine the personal politics of wddp applied to real world orgs
#9
Would OP make a thread mocking the split between People's War and CPI (ML)?

From what I gathered the NCP-LC was a group of a few friends calling themselves a party who didn't want to excommunicate someone bc they were friends. and then it turned out he was too bro-ey? and then some other 'party' which is a few former anarchists who recently went on a break and the world didn't notice are now condemning it? and the whole thing is written in a way that probably sounds a lot better in chinese? whole thing is ridiculous.

here's a refresher course: in late 2013 the new communist party (organising committee) expelled four founding members for repeated instances of sexual harassment and abuse of women in the party. these four individuals, and a contingent friendly to the expelled that left in some perverse solidarity, formed the new communist party (liaison committee), and blogged a bunch of polemics attempting to convey the split as a dispute on political line

last year the ncp(lc) eventually had to expel at least one of the members themselves again for the exact same reasons, because surprisingly enough individuals that are removed from their party on account of sexual harassment probably won't stop sexually harassing. they couched the expulsion in a bizarre statement about how when they did it, it was rectifying patriarchal behaviour in the party, but when the ncp(oc) had done the same thing it was purely based on an opportunist line on political differences. but not without repeatedly dragging their feet on the question, on the basis of which they at least had the awareness to conduct some semblance of self-criticism:

If this comrade would have enthusiastically and willingly shown initiative throughout the rectification process, he would not have been expelled because the comrade would have proved he rectified his patriarchal practice thus becoming a full member in good standing. Unfortunately, that did not take place. Not only did this comrade fail to rectify, but his patriarchal practice had become worse over time putting other women in similar situations that exemplifies his sexist practice. The comrade in question has had a history of patriarchal and/or sexual misconduct for a few years. And it hasn’t been handled correctly for several reasons: 1.) criticism and rectification of this individual not on the basis of his practice necessarily but because he held a minority political line within communist organization; 2.) male chauvinism in the organization did not take the rectification at all times seriously enough; 3.) because the individual comrade has been seen as valuable and advanced on other questions except on the question of gender and; 4.) liberalism of friendships over politics. None are good excuses in the rectification of this individual are reflected in organizational liberalisms and not putting politics in command. If so we might have had the opportunity to “cure the sickness to save the patient”. But the blame does not fall exclusively on the organization but also must fall on the individual in question for not taking the rectification in a serious manner.

despite conducting such self-criticism, they apparently took no steps to actually dissociate with the individual in question. the red guard - los angeles, who had been working closely with the ncp(lc) for months, formally cut ties with them because, weirdly enough, a micro-party that just happened to coincidentally split when their parent group expelled a contingent of sexual harassers and abusers had failed to isolate themselves from a sexual harasser and abuser

the remainder of the original party that expelled those who would form the ncp(lc), the ncp(oc), reformed as the maoist communist group after the split. they're hard to follow because of their completely legitimate distaste of communist sects that appear to be primarily concerned with blogging, which the ncp(lc) appeared to be, but they look like they do a lot of good work locally. their branch in virginia comprises most of the people who had been working and conducting communication with rashid and the prison chapter of the new afrikan black panther party

rather than just gloating over the failure of their opponents both branches have taken this as an opportunity to conduct self-criticism toward questions of political leadership in the organisation as a whole. good sh*t.

Anyway this is to say that the ncp-lc were a micro sect of blogger friends who were mad at being kicked out of another party for being misogynists. apparently this isn't a stable basis to form a party on.

Maoist communist group is cool. They do rent struggle stuff in NYC which is why I never felt right trying to work w them because I've been a fringe gentrifier for like 15 years so I have no legitimacy

i was about to say, if these folks count as a party, then the rhizzone is a major power bloc, a handful of my drinking buddies are a maoist splinter sect, and my neighbor's dog is a powerful insurgent fraktion.

in the last couple months I've read like 5 books on naxals and like a dozen English and Hindi language documents by CPI (Maoist) and I still don't understand the history of like the five fractious parties from the last 80 years so I guess this isn't just an American thing.

Edit: I was gonna do an effort post on this since I studied Hindi for 3 yrs and it's a rhizzone favorite subject but I've been derailed by the How I Found God and Communism Thru St Francis of Assisi: A Whitemuslimposters Thread

the best book on this is "revolutionary violence: a study of the maoist movement in india" by manoranjan mohanty tho it's from 1977 so it's pretty outdated.

Copy. I've downloaded that but not read it yet. About to finish a third of a series of books written around 2005-10 and then go back to 70s ones. Those were two very different times for the Party, so it's quite interesting.

Shouts out to Britain's lasting colonialist impression in India that I can read a lot of English books on the subject and don't necessarily have to read a Hindi book - though I should and there appear to be some - because besides being rusty books in Hindi are super stuffy with a bunch of bullshit Sanskrit words no one uses outside of the high end newspapers, books, and insane Hindu nationalists who don't want to use any Persian words

I really liked the MCGs three documents cos it had some humility and sense of proportion which is completely lacking from most other participants in this thing.

I assume the red guards groups split was coordinated, they'd both been aware of various issues for over a year. LA knew when they were still YCL
#29
Obviously I support all Maoist groups in places where an anti-revisionist Hoxhaist party isn't present, and onwards in simple chain in order of first instance of revisionism.
