whats your favourite slayer albums conec. heres my order.

1. reign in blood
2. haunting the chapel
3. hell awaits
4. show no mercy
5. south of heaven

90s onwards i dont care about. all thier 80s stuff is top tier aside from south of heaven which is a definite step down in my mind (while still being p. good)

roar, sorry.

hell awaits is monotonous and bland but show no mercy owns. south of heaven is good too

at the rhizzone we berate women for talking about misogyny. also there are no female posters here
#2725
wow, i wasn't sure about some of conecs arguments so i went a looked them up and how about that:

in my intellectual opinion the genius conec is right - cornel west & bell hooks, "the rap genius"

this is a great rap lyric tbh

I'd rather listen to the opinion of bell hooks (liker of Tracey Chapman, btw) than the white supremacist execs piping in the latest Rich Homie Quan to titillate the burbs. just sayin
#2729
Couldn't it be argued that purely the rap that got popular, which was formerly a choice mostly in the hands of white execs, was picked to degrade the image of black people? I would argue I've heard plenty of completely non-misogynisic hip hop music since youtube increased the ability for esoteric stuff to get exposure.
Or is all we are arguing over that a particularly subset of rap music is more degrading then other media, with people's arguments probably differing over the goalposts of what they think or have heard constitutes rap.
If so, what does it matter? Are we going to be able to grow more popular through public denunciations of rap,? Is the first act of the people's soviet going to be banning rap music? I don't mean to diminish women's role in the struggle, and their desire to be free of demeaning music, but shouldn't we be focused on changing the material conditions that are creating this, rather than this pointless arguing that does not seem to have a focus or goal. Can we approach this in a more, "constructive criticism'" way?

yeah, well said^

honestly concec i don't know what to say, i called you out for saying something i consider to be pretty obviously racist, and ive backed that up with a brief but imo solid explanation, and rather than engage with that, you claim to not be racist because a nazi band had a asian member and you've had jungle fever. i hope you follow through on your threat to leave the thread. while you're at it, please consider leaving this website forever.

lol this man said you had jungle fever. welcome to the communist rhizzone 😎

look soicowboy, it's either soad or slipknot. as imperfect as it is, battle lines are being drawn as we speak and we must make space for our politics in the SOAD universe without abetting the tortured vile monsters of right wing culture. this is no time for ultraleftism

hold the phone. not only the rappers themselves, but also the black academic, have spoken. an undefined but representative number of rappers, and at least one black academic, have spoken, on this issue. i guess it really is time for the cause of anti-misogyny-in-rap to be taken up by white teenagers who know little about rap and in fact actively dislike it

remember that time when bell hooks said white people focusing on rap's misogyny is racist?
