"Bern Baby Bern! Disco Dance Party for Bernie Sanders
We're doing it again! Last Bern Baby Bern was a huge success, with ~500 people attending and a lot of you dancing 'till 2 on a Wednesday night. This energy is the reason that Bernie continues to surge in all the polls."

this is cool but the article is also sustained by severe regression from the eXile-influenced high water mark of liberal-left commentary in the u.s. where it was understood that Someone becomes the "political editor of the atlantic monthly" for the conscious purpose of feeling like they were successfully bullied into helping someone steal federal office, maybe even appear in the biopic in one scene as Old Paul Rudd to be throughtly bitch Owned..

"Now, what I think is that right now we have got to do our best in developing positive relations with Russia. But let's be clear: Russia's aggressive actions in the Crimea and in Ukraine have brought about a situation where President Obama and NATO -- correctly, I believe -- are saying, you know what, we're going to have to beef up our troop level in that part of the world to tell Putin that his aggressiveness is not going to go unmatched, that he is not going to get away with aggressive action.
I happen to believe that Putin is doing what he is doing because his economy is increasingly in shambles and he's trying to rally his people in support of him. But bottom line is: The president is right. We have to put more money. We have to work with NATO to protect Eastern Europe against any kind of Russian aggression."

i think russia deserves defending because, of the following reasons:
a friendly government in ukraine got couped by neoliberal forces allied to the west, replaced by unelected technocrats and fascists. crimea was 99% russian and those peopel all would rather live in russia than in vichy ukraine
on the other hand theres a good lf thread there http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3760900

well, it would also be controversial if you oppose NATO expansionism, like most socialists do, but i appreciate your admission that your metric of what is right or wrong is what the average american will think about it, especially in terms of "controversy" in mainstream media.

Holy poo poo, are you like a holocaust denier but for Stalinism? Horseshoe theory is real.
yeah starving millions of Ukrainian peasants to death is a common side effect of seizing the means of production.
It really was though lmao. Holodomor wasn't an engineered genocide but the end result of State Capitalist policies in which grains were being used to accumulate industrial capital instead of consumption. Millions starved in Central Asia too, but they're not white and don't have a lobby in Washington DC so they don't get a special genocide I guess.
When "mistakes were made" those specific mistakes were letting Stalin and Mao seize the reigns of power. Just don't try and make me cry big fat liberal crocodile tears for the Kulaks or the Chinese gentry.
So a business owner who worked her way there from the bottom, and treats and pays all of her employees well, did something so wrong she deserves to die?

It's nice to be on one of the few smart sites on the web where ppl know that through the tenants of MTW, settler state, Lenins conception of the labor parasite or labor aristocracy etc, that such a person does deserve to die, along with all their employees.

you don't have to pretend that was anything but a (convincing) justification for asserting control of a militarily vital territory. one of the earliest neoliberal projects following ukrainian independence was the privatisation of the sevastopol naval base, home to russia's black sea fleet. obviously this was not ideal for russia but the tension was minimal until the coup. seizing crimea was the only reasonable response. of course russia was smart and reasonable enough to do this by way of a popular vote for secession. i honestly think (unless someone wants to inform me otherwise) that the subsequent uprising in the east began as an unintended but natural side effect of this harnessing of ethnic russian sentiment in crimea.
anyway my point is that one does not have to be a fan of putin to recognise that taking crimea was totally defensible under the circumstances and undertaken in the best way possible. fuck to bernie and fuck also to the nato

it was pretty packed, with at least some percentage being actual bernie supporters. it was pretty white but probably slightly more poc than would otherwise be in the elbo room in the mission in san francisco. certainly more guys than gals tho, so berniebro phenomenon confirmed. a little political speech making, which means there was actually a packed room full of drunk people in sf chanting for "revolution", alex jones would have had a heart attack. left for a bit to go to a divier bar but returned because literally everything else was dead yet elbo room kept going until closing. so long story short: bernie sanders will be the next president of the united states and preside over world war three in which this country is finally mercifully destroyed and becomes the atomic wasteland it deserves to be.

this is some pretty effective messaging, has clinton done anything similar? managed to make an obvious attempt to get at the black vote without it seeming too transparent
