making computers work in genetics labs somehow apparently. they are still vague about the details and it sort of sounds like writing .bat files idk.

i would rather do something more real or physical or human-oriented but i can't really afford to go back to school and no one will hire me for anything other than computer stuff because that's what's on my resume

a lot of science jobs can be done with far less actual scientific knowledge than the university circuit requires if you're computer savvy enough to figure out how to run someone's extremely specialized custom program for some arcane task. i have a friend who does forensic chemistry and never even finished his bachelors, which drives up the wall his coworkers with masters degrees since he has seniority and will forever be further up the payscale than them
