Any substance to the rumours that us & Turkey conspired to flush the refugee camps & drive people to Europe in order to enlist EU support for bombing Syria?
Cool if true

Um, why would Europeans go to war with the Middle East when they have so many new Middle Eastern friends and neighbors?

just heard a story on Nazi Public Radio about how contributions to UNHCR dropped precipitously this year forcing them to cut hundreds of thousands of people entirely from food aid and reduce the rations of everyone else. they blamed it on donor fatigue but obviously western governments are significant contributors, so there'd not necessarily be any need to rely on turkey or solely on turkey if that were the aim

there are all sorts of awesome knock-on effects from rich world governments cutting social and international aid worldwide and unemployment rising and wages being far below living standard. and the effects will only compound each year. hold onto your hats!

"Starting in 2007, the US was already in the process of engineering the overthrow and destruction of all prevailing political orders across the Middle East and North African (MENA) region." do they mean 2001 because that's the absolute latest date for such "starting"

slashing UNHCR donations makes perfect sense because then the people running from your wars have to stop and set up camp in the NATO periphery. this is not a knock-on effect as much as the united states scattering the peoples of the region to the winds, where they will become "problems" to be governed by host country policy. the european governments are thinking ahead, i'm sure. the goal is now to erase the refugees from existence, legal or actual. in a way, it has to be for many of those countries' current governments to survive an assault by their own right wings.

in a less figurative sense, many of the refugees may not survive those right-wing movements either. violent rightist action in eastern europe no longer concerns the voters, reporters or companies of the west. no one knows anything anyway; the great western foreign press offices closed years ago. the bourgeois history books on the syrian civil war have already been ghostwritten by the lone anti-assad expat known as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the generator of perhaps 25-50% of the stories on syria i have read over the past two years. i have a feeling little of what goes on in the next few months in hungary will find its way into public record either.

i dont know about rumours but its the first conclusion my Marxism-infused brain jumped to, which means its almost certainly true
