It's evident, that, through her display of childish notions e.g. stripping down in order jump into the ocean (desperately seeking attention) that her partner is becoming increasingly detached from their relationship at a time where they're supposed to be trying to build a life together. Her attempts at salvaging their bond, shifts the dynamic of their relationship into thrill seeking experiences involving only sex. Unfortunately their relationship is doomed, and the final revelation of this is exemplified by what she sees through the window of the couple with their family- A dynamic she realizes, albeit her efforts, is one that her and her partner could never attain or maintain given his issues with (emotional) intimacy. An axiomatic tragedy which people experience universally- which is what makes this song and video so popular- NOT because it is the whitest music video ever made which although that may be true in some ways and is f hilarious to point out- those are superficial observations and really have nothing to do with the sociological and artistic interpretations of this video.
