through a youtube chain i was looking at covers of mr. bojangles. only listen to the robbie williams cover if you already want to die. what's funny to me is that many of the youtube comments are like... easily best version of this song. alright. well the original was a stripped down country-folk song which is quite sweet. nina simone had a haunting version like only she could. but like...

there should be a whole song made just of the starting piano from robeson's joe hill. Him singing is nice and all but its still the comfiest musical bit ever interrupted by darth vader kicking the door down

my favorite Amiri Baraka moment is when he went on democracynow to discuss Malcolm X and uphold an anti-revisionist Marxist-Lenininst line against some black bougie guy and Amy Goodman. They were utterly bewildered, like reaching the limits of their liberalism caused a short circuit.

chairman bob avakian has a talk (it's called communism and jeffersonian democracy) which is available on his website where he basically criticizes amy goodman and like 'social justice' people the whole time.

This one is a classic and really moving. One of the older posters who's now inactive had their avatar as a still from this cartoon, so you guys may have already seen this.

Nina Simone tears it up and sings about everyday indignity.

Also its the anniversary of Malcolm X's assassination, or just was now that its midnight

My favorite Robeson is his version of Song of the Plains. His voice is amazing.
