The highly anticipated big-screen version of EL James' best-selling erotic novel is selling more advance tickets than average in many Southern and Midwestern states, according to Fandango. In particular, presales for Fifty Shades are nearly four times better than average preasales in Mississippi, the online ticket retailer added. Sales are, similarly, at least two times better than expected in Arkansas, West Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama and Louisiana.

i saw someone say that if you take away all the lead guy's wealth and pretensions of nobility that he's just a guy that beats his girlfriends. yeah that argument will probably convince women not to see it.

And if you take away his name and change it to Ringo Starr he'd be a millionaire who was the least respected member of the Beatles. Really makes you think about our entertainment and what we expect from men. But if he was just a lawyer who was ashamed of his sexual preferences then the movie would be secretary and my dipshit friend would tell me to borrow it from a girl which I did not knowing it was a fuck movie. Honestly the world is a strange place but it's our job to accept what it is and who we are.

I haven't seen or read it but I assume that it's just another mary sue where a woman gets fucked the way she wants and it isn't her fault because a man convinces/tricks her into doing it. Reminds me of true blood in that vein, it's all centered around a woman that is the center of male sexual desire.
