during the ice storm last year a bunch of people started grills in their houses to keep warm and the city had to be like... yeah... smoke exists. to be honest though that's something i'd do 100%.

I'm personally extremely glad nobody respected my decision, comrade conec, and generally believe there's only a minority of situations in which it's the sort of choice that should be respected. I've also personally intervened on an attempt after which the person in question expressed sincere gratitude, and who is now doing quite well and glad to be alive. The circumstances in which the decision to take one's own life should be respected are much less common than those behind most suicidality and involve a certain presence of mind that others can readily appreciate and which is absent in the majority of suicides attempted or successful.

The dead can't demand shit on the living as grieving isn't their affair.

I agree that we should above all respect individual agency, in all circumstances, including suicide, because community welfare is stupid bull shit

maybe, we should demand effective community health services, instead of demanding that we do not kick up a fuss when the most vulnerable people slip through the cracks left by neoliberalism's attacks on the welfare state
