Most of the cartoons are actually Mohammad being way more moderate than the extremists, (who they discuss, just like you, ten times more than regular muslims because they're in the news), I couldn't care less about the second one which is an obvious joke, and the third didn't happen.

it's possible that people make jokes here with the knowledge and acceptance that they aren't and shouldn't be protected by a rushbo wall of selective american/western values, and what happens, happens because of what they chose to do. i suggest confessing with firm purpose of amendment and throwing yourself on the mercy of god. but thats because i dont own a single FSM magnet or cthulhu fish and am thus a real bad socialist.

I dont have to be personally offended to have the opinion that it's dumb, unnecessary, and harmful. Context is kind of important for meaning, right? And i take the context of charlie hebdo into account: it's french and therefore apparently can not be judged by regular human standards of humor. But its also published in a country where there is a large muslim minority who are significantly oppressed by the state and also under constant threat of right wing violence. And now of course republished around the world ad nauseam, without the benefit of whatever the french sense of humor adds to this stuff. The new context of the cartoons runs the gamut from mainstream publications talking about not being cowed by 'Islamic fascism', to stuff like this: http://www.barenakedislam.com/2015/01/08/the-best-of-charlie-hebdo/

You showed me a new cartoon on a different subject that I thought was racist, and for all I know Charlie Hebdo reprinted Mein Kampf, but that's obviously not relevant to whether the controversial Mohammad cartoons were racist.

Show me a cartoon of a male muslim from charlie hebdo where he is not a twisted maniac with a freakish twisted beard, and i'll agree that it's not "vile racist propaganda." supporting evidence might include a cartoon where the muslim is not either in a context xhe would find blasphemous or that threatens xher with physical and often sexual violence. For you to sit back and say "Oh these cartoons are so tame, this is just an incident of a few stupid people shooting up a pathetic zine for dumb reasons" is the real liberalism that completely ignores the racial tensions in France that gave rise to hebdo and its content. That's what I wrote in my post anyway.

I especially like the one about a Film That Offends Muslims, where a reasonably naked Mohammed is reasonably offering up his ass hole to a film camera, and quite reasonably asking, "do you like my ass??". Oh Mohammed, you sure showed those wacky extremists, lol.
