REalY? Why would the US Government wanna institutionally scrutinize someone who outted a cointellpro informant? When was the last time this happned?Jerry?
please listen to getfiscal jeffry. also as an attorney i would recommend that in the event that you truly are getting that level of manpower expended on you (which I find extremely unlikely but not 100% impossible, for all I know you're an active ELF member or in hizbollah or something and it really is all true) you need to start maintaining a very low profile and fastidiously follow all laws

it must be difficult to practice psychiatry in a country where a statement like "i have reason to believe i'm being monitored by my own government" is actually basically 100% right across the board for everyone with only the degree being a debatable point
let me be clear, i don't think these are paranoid delusions because i discount out of hand the idea that this forum is monitored on some level (i've noted a couple times now that even commercial firewalls flag this forum, which pretty much guarantees this forum at least gets botcrawled) or that some individuals could experience more advanced surveillance depending on what they do in their personal lives. i think they're paranoid delusions because they sound exactly like paranoid delusions and are occurring to jeffery at an age when these things tend to surface. those original roommate e-mails were entirely innocuous and now this stuff about seeing people on public transit or exchanging significant glances with people in waiting rooms is basically textbook. i'm not going to belabor the point any more because it feels sort of cruel and gross but fucking a this is someone's life we're talking about

in any case, subsuming concerns about security under one person or their story, and letting the legitimacy of those concerns rise and fall on a particular account (which will almost never come from someone with full knowledge of the agencies that might be involved), that's just being dramatic and fatalist. it's like people who try organizing for a few weeks and conclude that because conflicts sometimes happen between people that it's impossible to organize, or worse yet the people who foresee conflict and get so antsy at the thought of it that they conclude all organization is futile. some people think that because they brought their umbrella one day and it didn't rain, that umbrellas aren't worth having around because it "never rains when you bring one". the contents of a single account should inform how you think about security but it shouldn't affect your decision about whether security concerns are legit. if anyone in the U.S. still thinks they're beneath notice after what has come out in the press, lol, because it's probably more expensive to exclude someone from surveillance at this point.
daddyholes posted:j. sakai says that infiltrators never sow dissent, they go along with you to get more information to fulfill their job of getting more information and then eventually get around to disrupting you through entrapment or other external means. on one hand that's a good read of a lot of "seed" tactics where groups are disrupted and then former members are cultivated for connections to other groups, and of "domestic terrorism" convictions in recent years. on the other hand he's obviously wrong according to documented evidence since a variety of tactics have been used, and it seems to me he was just saying that to denounce certain socialist parties' completely useless security guidelines.

Yeah the whole "infiltrators don't sow dissent" thing is bullshit, but he is right about it being usually antithetical to surveillance work. Generally speaking you won't have the same person working to sow dissent and perform any in depth surveillance/informing that requires digging. Two different jobs, different skillsets, different MOs, and different kinds of people that can be payed/coerced/suckered into doing either.
I guess we can do some babies' first infosecurity if folks are needful. Here's a cool tip: if you're in a place like say, an ironic public webforum, nothing you do is ever going to be secure so there are no real security practices to speak of other than the common sense of "don't talk about anything you don't want cops to know." Hunting for cops here is completely pointless, leave it to the practices of orgs that can actually enforce some kind of security. And if you think that this place merits any special attention beyond the typical ubiquitous political surveillance blanket, seek mental health support immediately.
As far as more in depth organizational security goes, a lot of that is going to be idiosyncratic to the orgs' structures and needs, and lol if anyone in their right mind is going to talk about it on an ironic public webforum

1. this poster dank xoipang is already known to be a fed
2. the actual history of fed infiltrations shows the exact opposite to be true, that the cia and fbi have employed many dumb operatives who have spent thousands of hours spying against completely innocuous people to get no information
3. this is totally ok with the feds because the point of surveillance is not to uncover evidence of past or planned crimes but to set up undesirable activists to be convicted of crimes, or at the least punished as hard as permitted without an actual conviction on hand
like it's perfectly reasonable and healthy to assume that the worthless jacobin reading group or whatever the fuck you go to is being watched, with some cursory investigations into the backgrounds of people involved, less so to assume you specifically are being targeted and followed on a day to day basis solely because you go to a fucking jacobin reading group. they're looking for opportunities to isolate, harass, convict and disrupt, and where there aren't any they don't really focus attention.
