i googled Los Angeles Communists and read Lucille Ball talking to the House Un-American Activities COmmittee about registering communist to make her grandpa happy and being told by the studio to go talk on radio supporting some commie stuff and how she had never been a Communist and didn't vote.
went to a protest wednesday night in front of the gleaming new police station. two unarmed people were shot by cops within the last couple of months and the trial of another killer kkkop who shot someone in 2012 has recently started. so its high time the Utahns Against Police Brutality come out and chant and march imo.
the rally started pretty good, I picked up a cardboard sign, family members from 2 of the 3 cases I mentioned above were present with their own signs which were very detailed and impressive, down blood dripping three-six mafia style off of twisted lettering. all the FRSO people from salt lake were there, some WWP people I think? some unaffiliated mormon socialists, and, bien sur, les anarchistes. the frso front org, utah against police brutality, had a very professional, to the point handout with three demands and the phone numbers of the ppl to call to make those demands a reality. the anarchist literature was a tiny font (seriously 6 point or less) rambling menifesto about the definition of anarchism ?? which concluded with basically that anarchism is a land of contrasts. so far so good.
we did chants, which worked well except for a few that were sort of wordy, and the frso guys are real pros at this so after the chants they started passing out bottles of water which if you've ever chanted for a long time you know that shit is very necessary. by the way the frso people were openly wearing frso shirts and identifying themselves and nobody seemed to have a cow about it. the middle aged mormon lady with the real deal memphis '93 horrorcore sign was chatting it up with people with the word 'socialism' visible on their tshirts after the rally. strange times.
so after the rally, which was short (it was dark and cold, much like our late capitalist abyss), the anarchists, who had been standing apart for most of the time holding their own banner (which was good, it read "all cops enforce inequality" or maybe it said "inforce" i cant remember), started marching out into the street. there was a weird moment because, of course, they didn't talk to any frso people before or communicate to anyone that they were planning this. almost everyone went along, me included. they marched up 3rd east, crossed 4th south (very busy street with a train on it, shoutouts to _all_ my public transit exgoons) and then werent sure where to go lmfao. so someone suggested they march back to the intersection and march around it in a circle a few times blocking traffic. which I support sort of. some people started to get uneasy at this point and moved to the sidewalk or gutter. or bike lane. rip futurewidow.
then they started marching down 4th south in the street, eventually cops showed up and escorted the march by blocking and re-routing traffic, until the protest made its way in an orderly fashion back to police hq. I left shortly thereafter, when the anarchists were screaming at people to try and get them to march to the federal courthouse for some absurd reason. while I was unlocking my bike I heard one of the most vocal ones shout 'solidarity' at people who had decided they didnt want to hike in the dark through 2 city blocks to stand in front of another building. overall 3.5/5, good turnout, good energy, coulda used more discipline and central planning and less wordy bullshit.
also there's going to be a 'constitutional convention' at the city library in a few weeks to form a new Explicitly Communist group in utah, with a paper and a website and dues and everything. I'm pretty excited and I will report back for all the spooks unable to clear their schedules for that day (its a saturday, smdh)

but yeah, once you're out you're a police spy/manipulated by misogynists/racists/imperialists and were inherently reactionary from the beginning and could never have been saved, that is the official message that's broadcast about nearly everyone leaving (and rarely is an attempt made to understand why or how this happened or to keep people in the group or to prevent it happening again).. in some cases I'm sure this might be true, but it's said about everyone in every circumstance
A lot of the stuff the guy who writes the blog says is true, and a lot of it is exaggerated. In the end, it's just a testament to that group's effectiveness in that location that they've pissed off so many people both inside the org and in the wider community who were pretty committed and burned them out into reactionary husks or bitter assholes

A. everyone is a fuckshit
B. "PSL is a front for the leadership committee to siphon money"
is pretty much accurate except add on a whole bunch of other pointless stuff to "cool cool parties" like flying leadership around the country from D.C. to give classes about the USSR's history that local people could have given if they let anyone do anything (or video-conferenced it ffs), flying and housing hundreds of people around for petitioning campaigns that are of extremely questionable effectiveness (and could have been done locally had the locals been build effectively), etc.

on the third hand....
our Communist Party is very similar in line to CPUSA but it does normally run candidates independent of the NDP in each election. there is also a post-hoxhaist Marxist-Leninist party which is semi-cultish but fairly well-organized and runs candidates as well. then there are all the trot groups which all tail the NDP.
i had joined the NDP and given them money because i wanted to support local candidates instead of some ass national party. which is one big thing in canada, you get huge tax credits if you give money to a party, to support are freedom.
anyway i considered myself sort of parked in the NDP until something better came along but i'm thinking about supporting the revisionist Communist Party because they could use the money for useful things and the NDP is really bad.
