what leads to a fulfilling life though? what control over that does someone have.

theres a tendency to puritanism in leftist thought and it can only really be corrected by Reading Deleuze

tends to be a bit preachy imho

i'm glad if people find their own nirvana through asceticism and discipline but it doesn't mean i want to hear their prescriptions for my life.

it leads to poverty of thought & psychological repression, more than anything its ugly, it reduces the world to a green-grey miasma where it should be a cacophony of glorious spurting cocks
#451
read some nietzsche imho. even if youre a puritan theres no reason to respect that, in fact, that's all the more reason to immolate yourself

thanks to puritanism, fornication is hot

well fine but i dont see how that pertains to puritanism, hedonists are far more preachy and pushy in my experience, since their values and lifestyles are institutionalized in capitalism whereas puritanism requires the sovereignty of church and community

not that i like to draw the distinction between puritanism and capitalism since they are part and parcel of modern governmentality but you get what im saying

what does nietzsche say and what are we not respecting and what is this talk about immolation

puritanism is smallness basically; ive got no problem with asceticism but the discipline of the ascetic is expansive, sometimes revolutionary even, puritanism is a reactionary viciousness, it comes from a position of jealousy, more often than not i think it masks a desire to be like the unbridled other, its bitter and repulsive

puritanism is a specific christian sect that had a historical lifespan of a few hundred years, which obviously youre nto talking about here. what is "puritanism" to you

Yeah and that’s a good point I thought of just after I posted it: what is consumer capitalism if not preachy?

Hmmm, puritanism is a pretty nebulous term though.

I dunno, I just don’t like the fun-police I guess

i dunno exactly but its a general tendency towards the restriction of jouissance, it takes up restriction and discipline not towards any particular goal but for the sake of restriction itself, although obviously it tends to adopt ideological appearances

the idea that puritans never had fun is ridiculous tbh. they werent even anti-sex or anything. these are deeply engrained stereotypes in post-settler nationhoods that say a lot about what our present values are, that they require this sort of launching pad and a certain trajectory of increasing "progress" coupled to hedonism and anarchy etc.
