before that i read platonov's soul and some of his other short fiction. i enjoyed it, but i can understand the censorship. has me thinking about the best ways to balance the obvious need to censor reactionary literature against the inherent fallibility of humans who have to make these decisions. anyone know of anything good to read which addresses that topic in a historical and non-shitty way??
was also p funny to read the introduction by some liberal who had to swear up and down that all the praise of stalin and the soviet system throughout his writing was obviously written with fingers crossed and couldn't have possibly been sincere

you ever read that elif batuman book "the possessed: Adventures with Russian Books, yada yada"? it's the only thing i know that had reference to soviet dealings with central asian lit, and it's definitely not an unbiased or scholarly source of information, so i guess what i'm saying is i'm into those studies popping up if you get a chance

The Clinton name likely opened doors for the political heiress, including an eye-popping $600,000 annual salary for an irregular stint as an NBC special correspondent, but Chelsea insists her work speaks for itself.
