it is definitely an issue which triggers aversion at a deeply basic level in most humans, however we need to plan as a society what we do with human waste. I think it is important as well to separate urine and feces as different substances with different utility. Urine has damaging components when not used correctly. One simple example does not even involve a damaging chemical. In vegetation-sparse regions of the world, urinating on said vegetation can cause die-off, as salt-seeking animals will damage the plant trying to get the salts and other desired chemicals left behind. Lessons raises valid concerns about chemical imbalances as well.
With feces, you simply need to control the decomposition flora. This involves purification of harmful cultures while promoting mutualist or commensalist cultures.
Analyzing the chemical and bacterial contents of human waste and applying those findings in practical ways will help to curb many common problems facing humanity today.
