As part of Kansas City's Salute to the Negro Leagues, the Orioles honor the Baltimore Black Sox with throwback uniforms.
Partnering with the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, the Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Royals will pay tribute to their Negro League predecessors with throwback uniforms this Sunday, May 18th.
Despite the fact that the Orioles organization has no roots in the Negro Leagues, the team will don the uniforms of the Baltimore Black Sox, while the Royals will wear the look of the longest-running Negro League franchise, the Kansas City Monarchs.

getfiscal posted:i did research for that joke because i couldn't remember if the rangers were in austin. they are in arlington. tmyk.
the closest thing to a pro baseball team in austin is the round rock express, a AAA team. actually we have no pro teams, used to have the ice bats a AHL team, but they don't even exist anymore. I think the Texas Stars play in austin sometimes. Most people are just fans of Dallas teams but the closest pro outfit technically is the Spurs in San Antonio two counties away. I'm a Spurs fan in basketball, a Cowboys fan in football, and an Astros fan in baseball. most austin ppl go straight dallas with maybe spurs fandom but it's really either way
Cruz with a double and his 20th home run today
Too bad he's the entire offense and the Orioles have a losing record

Ilmidge pls ask ur boys to sweep the "Oakland Athletics" (baseball club they will be opposing this series)
they lost game 1 in a ridiculous manner instead
the orioles let the A's tie the game in the 8th inning, then in extras got two guys thrown out at home in the same inning. first markakis was sent and was out by a mile, then nelson cruz was on third and chris davis was up to bat and the A's put on a huge shift - no one on the left side of the diamond - so davis could bunt in the winning run. but he didn't attempt to bunt so nelson cruz just walked halfway home cuz there were no fielders, and then tried to run all the way home (steal home) and got out. O's fans say it caused a balk though. i don't pretend to know the balk rules
