Egypt’s government must ensure that the country’s poorer people aren’t hurt by an overhaul of the subsidies that are weighing on the budget, said Abdel-Fattah al-Seesi, the former army chief who’s the top contender in presidential elections.
“Subsidizing the commodities for the poor people can be reduced by about two thirds,” Sabahi said, “and the governmental spendings also can be directed to by a new taxation system that could increase the revenue for the Egyptian economy.”
