Bitcoin exchange First Meta CEO Autumn Radtke found dead
Death classified as 'unnatural,' but no foul play suspected

The CEO of a virtual currency exchange was found dead near her home in Singapore.

A police spokesman said Thursday that initial investigations indicated there was no suspicion of "foul play" in the Feb. 26 death, meaning officers do not suspect murder.

The spokesman said police found 28-year-old Autumn Radtke, an American, lying motionless near the apartment tower where she lived.

Police have so far classified the death as "unnatural," which can mean an accident, misadventure, or suicide.

Radtke's company, First Meta, said it was "shocked and saddened by the tragic loss."

First Meta allows users of virtual currencies such as bitcoin to trade and cash out the currencies. It is one of several such exchanges.

The future of bitcoin has been under scrutiny since the collapse of the Mt. Gox exchange in Tokyo last month.

Radtke had worked at other tech companies.

Postings on her Facebook page showed her to be a believer in the potential of virtual currencies.

Last month she linked to an article on entrepreneurs suffering depression, commenting above the link: everything has its price.

Bitcoin’s Mysterious Creator Is Said to Be Identified

But the inventor of the virtual currency may not be quite the international man of mystery that some aficionados imagined him to be. Could he in fact be a model-train fanatic living with his mother in a modest house in Southern California?

it's true. for a very short period i dated someone from the upper echelon of singapore chinese society, which is not a notably kind or restrained group of people, and even they tended to look askance at them. some of the sneering seemed, originally paradoxically to me given that many of the whites are bankers or businessmen, classist- "the expats are just so crass" was something i heard a couple times from people who would get publically blackout and crash their cars- but i realized that they were just alluding to the fact that whites in singapore were usually bloated swaggering pieces of shit, flotsam from the long-gone waves of empire, still flushed from past military victory and lurching their way through the excolonies.

i like to imagine the bitcoin guy has model trains running through his house in tunnels, delivering him cold beers at his computer in flatcars, scamming liberterians just so he can buy more N-scale Fleischmann locomotives and nice Faller houses and scenery for himself
