I too would like to make less money. *checks box accordingly*
Australia's whole car industry is currently in the process of imploding: GM, Ford, Toyota are pulling out, Mitsubishi already has: this is after many many decades of operation and production that have been not just a big part of our economy but of our cultural identity and now they're just gonna go. The right is blaming greedy unions as usual (libertarian think tank toadies talking of 'greedy' unionized workers rustles my fucking jimmies) but for the last decade the companies are getting propped up by mad subsidies only to see the sales keep dropping. Even with pretty hefty import duties foreign cars (especially Japanese ones) keep proving more popular and appealing.
Edit: lmao just had a look we're about to sign Japanese and South Korean free trade deals that will see those import duties soon slashed, everything works out ok in the end *laid-off GM worker gasses himself in a cheap new Hyundai Sonata*
