do you think this goes for autism too?
i'm sceptical because i've been diagnosed with ADD but i can't for the life of me see how 'being bored by boring shit' or being restless is a 'Disorder' that deviates from some supposed normal human baseline.

hello roseweird how are you
i could really use some weed
I hope you find some. Most of my smoking buddies have gone to Canada so i'm pretty dry too
Cali'd medicinal weed was pretty awesome when i was there but when i was on Kauai a couple of years ago the 65 year old war vet cabbie who took us around the island gave us a little bit of his personal stash ('for my war wounds') that his friend grew up in the canyons somewhere and oh my god it was the most unbelievable weed ever. One hit from a little hash pipe and i was gone for 2 hours i shit you not.
sorry for rambling, just got thinking about that weed......

nah that's more because prior to about 1980 most doctors weren't even aware autism was a thing beyond bad parenting
daddyholes posted:i think it goes for autism too yes, in that case it's imo often parents attempting to extort attention for their kids from schools whether for academics or bullying or whatever. as in the other cases i think thats ok but its sad that people have to trick american institutions into providing assistance to people at greater cost to everyone
it's almost like the push to have a child be special or gifted has warped in a weird way to include the 'prestige' of having a disorder. We're not quite as intense on the psycho-drug stuff as America but all the same trends are present here.
On a side note i read something pretty funny today: the areas of my state with the lowest rate of vaccination correlate to the bottom 5% and top 5% of income earners.

but where is the line drawn between Autism: the disorder and just an introverted, analytical personality type that has most likely existed throughout history. (Issac Newton springs to mind)
Ironicwarcriminal posted:which begs the bigger question of where all this depression/anxiety is coming from in the first place.
I believe it is a natural part of the human condition.
I also don't think we can just blame the internet as a whole for causing problems in our lives. Of course it can have negative effects but it can also have many positive ones, the trick is just learning to use it more effectively
