i dont think apathy is accurate, lots of people some people here are actively involved in seeking solutions IRL but come here to joke and vent with like-minded folks. cynicism and despair are certainly accurate descriptions of the general atmosphere, which i why it's good idea to take frequent breaks from the forums

it seems pretty plain to me that most folks in this place really are very tired. and it manifests as apathy and despair. i don't know anyone here and what they do/if they do anything but what i see here is pretty typical of real life burnt out activists, crushed by the overwhelmingly hostile political climate and the strain of doing so much work with no tangible progress. i have to deal with a lot of that where i'm organizing.
just understand that folks are expressing that despair and i think you'll find them to not be rabid haters of malala or jews or w/e. sometimes you just have to give voice to all that bitterness the world dumps on you.

i know you. i used to be you. seeing the absolute worst aspects of humanity everywhere i looked. constantly advising ladies to take it easy. only being satisfied if i was able to make something platinum. greeting each day wondering what this hellish universe had in store for me. i was constantly bombarded with descriptions of wonderful things, knowing that those people were lying to me, because nothing in this universe could bring joy or happiness

im pretty sure its one of the only organizations that has any voiced support here or in LF. local socialist groups are trots, any mainstream politics is liberalism or identity politics. the only people who post in support of anything, "ironic" or not, at all are posts about how al-quaeda and putin are part of a revolutionary anti-imperialist struggle (for the latter, see this thread) and IWC parroting right-wing propaganda
