Well shit. How could they think this is a good idea? How could anyone think privatisation of natural resources is a good idea? Oh, these smart people will make it profitable! Yeah, for them! Perhaps the state apparatus is too corrupt and they just need some Juan Galtterras to whip the oil industry into shape
it's really sad that since Mexico already privatized and deregulated everything else in their economy an argument can be made that all that oil revenue is just being used to repress the masses and enforce neo-liberalism anyways.
