hello friends. i used the holidays to avoid looking for work but i'm back in my apartment staring at glowing rectangles all day and trying to think about new ways to make money. i was thinking about doing some online work from home but i have no idea how to get started in that and most websites about it seem like scams. i wouldn't mind working a lot on something if i could work at it at my own pace. like even if it were a real full business idea or something i could probably do that, as long as i could just plug away at it. anyway these aren't fully formed thoughts but i know you expect bleeding edge reality from me.

i'm a fat tard. i mean, i have an economics degree, i know a fair amount about taxes and politics and shit. i have some limited general office experience. i'm like an exact index of youth unemployment i guess: vaguely educated but unskilled. i'm also one of the brightest lights of my generation, if that helps. i also invented the ferris club meme.

thats cool. you should admit to yourself youre totally worthless and youve wasted a quarter of your life instead of wallowing in the conservative hope of boostrapping yourself into a billion dollars. then go to college and learn cabinet making or something. making shit owns. offices and politics are bullshit

what do you think about engineering? there's a shortage of engineers (citation: mustang) and i think it'd be sorta interesting. i could help build mines in india thus building contradictions on which the maoists could grow?

i sincerely doubt your ability to make it past a year in an engineering program but if you do manage to graduate the real benefit is enriching the owner of whatever souless conglomerate youll be forced to work for while simultaneously hating yourself for not standing up to your preppy 23 year old boss whose only skill is being taller than 6 feet with straight teeth and attending the same business school as the other 5 managers above you while he makes you work saturdays for no overtime

full disclosure: whenever i go to the job centre they say shit like "university doesn't matter these days, only college and trades" and i want to stab them in the neck with a pen but then i calm down and remember i learned about marxism in school. so i think i'd feel sad if i didn't do something vaguely related to social science.

go to fort mcmurray and get a job driving trucks or something, i've been tempted to do the same with our equivalent hellish remote boomtowns

i have probably only spent a total of like... 4 months in the US in my entire life. so don't project.

i would really enjoy doing that i think. the only thing is that i'd enjoy advising people and such but i'm not sure i'd feel great about pushing products. but i guess i could start off doing whatever to get experience and then move towards less sales oriented shit. i've hesitated on this before though because my uncle is a financial planner and he seems to be aggressive on sales and products which made me wary, and everyone tells me it's just a straight sales job and you might as well be selling car parts or whatever.

They're correct and you only feel that way because what little crumb of self respect youre clinging to is is tied to your worthless degree. Also you've probably internalised a stigmatisation of the working class.

#22
ahh i see

i do feel self-respect is an important part of life and that aiming low is a bad idea.

how can you aim lower than living in rural canada with no job while your parents pay your rent

well that was because i was and am severely ill. but if i recover more i might be able to do many jobs very well. so why would i aim at jobs that require little or no education (in the long term) when i could probably upgrade or something and then get an at-least-average paying job eventually. almost all of my peers are high performing professionals now. why do i have to dig ditches to feel mighty proletarian or whatever because i have a disability.

fuk it, just go to grad school and become a professor of marxism studies. lie on your transcript, fabricate your letters of recommendation, explain how you've been published multiple times in the prestigious, peer-reviewed french journal, Le Rhizzonex, etc. etc. you'll be doing something you enjoy and contributing to your life's philosophy, which is: anarchy now.

If you honestly can't find a job that you would deign to accept, then listen to innsmouthful and just go back to school. At least that will put you back into the recruiting pool for on campus interviews and whatnot.

academia seems like a terrible path even though i want to learn more shit from smart people.

maybe i'll just do temp/bullshit work for a few years and take some courses and then go do my phd and then go back to doing temp work or go make furniture like Royal Bank wants me to do.

i've done factory temp work for $7 an hour before. it was really bad so i quit after two weeks. i worked a few jobs that were generic office bullshit and they were okay. by okay i mean i had panic attacks at one so bad that i quit after a month. but i mean.... in retrospect.... if i was as healthy as i am now, i might be able to pull it off.

#37
lol why would you ever want to do something like that ever again. you've got a good brain bucko, might as well put it to good use.
#38
Forget all that shit-- I can tell you right now 2014 is going to be the year that everything goes down. By next December you'll have fought running gun battles with anti-com paramils, watched dozens of prominent figures in business and politics sentenced at revolutionary tribunal, and bedded no fewer than eight impressionable (and nubile) female cadres, none of whom were born before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Pretty soon "Should I or shouldn't I do temp work at a bank" is going to seem like the most pedestrian, least important question you've ever asked yourself. So yeah, I wouldn't sweat this life thing too much.
