my friend lives in mississippi. he doesn't have a car and lives off welfare so he walks miles down the highway to get to the home depot.

this week he told me picked up an unopened can of coke off the side of the road and drank it on his way home

must be a cool place to have an opinion about

as a native Mississippian this story checks out 100%

new york is home to the largest greek population in the united states. instead of visiting a morbid replica frequented by no one but american tourists (whom you would probably be embarrassed to realize how much you resemble, if you could only see yourself) you could visit athens square in queens. it is not enormous and it is not old, but it is alive and full of people walking and playing and talking (lots of them in greek, no less, imagine that). and it is surrounded by greek taverns and seafood restaurants.

goodness what an idea. think it over lycurgus. thats socrates chilling on the steps back there by the way

...I lived in NYC and went to Queens/Astoria all the time.

i was in melbourne in their greek/turkish/maltese area recently and they had a statue of the 'this is sparta' guy which was really weird

I went on a road trip to Harper's Ferry from DC and immediately after crossing of the state line into west Virginia from Maryland I saw a shirtless dude with a massive beard walking on the side of the road.

Mississippi roads are really bad and i think its some sort of emergent behavior to trap people here with blown tires and busted axles like a Homer-shaped pitcher plant

i literally cant remember the last time some part of Jackson wasnt under a boil water notice

I'd read some stuff about the Dixie mafia, do they have much influence or is only in the casino resort towns?

mainly casino towns, and pretty much the entire coast. everything else is just run of the mill Good Ol' Boy Network and ramshackle haphazard incompetence. although for a while Jackson was run by a skinny black Rob Ford who secretly ran the dope game and went around using his position as Mayor to wipe out all the competition. Personally sledgehammered a few houses to the ground. had a dozen or so out-on-warrants teen drug dealers living at his house at any given time. Imagine Morgan Freeman as Gus Fring but without the gravitas of either

also according to several of my black friends even before he was mayor he used to show up to the schools under the guise of some crime prevention thing, and single out all the problem kids to go spend time at his house at which point he would recruit them into his drug gang using sexual molestation to ensure compliance. Welcome to Jackson yall
#55
isnt jackson run by that black panther dude now. hows that going?
#56
yeah its funny how a member of the mxgm got elected mayor and nobody talked about it, and then some lame ass keynesian quote unquote "socialist" gets elected in seattle and red banners fall from the ceiling and the internationale starts booming from unseen speakers.
