plus one only needs to look at the LGBT rights records of US allies like Honduras and Saudi Arabia to see this is an insincere gambit on Obama's part.

i dont buy the "because obama does it, it must be bullshit" line. its literally possible for the situation for LGBT people in russia to be worse than in the US regardless of whether or not obama is "sincere". if we care about "sincerity" then why are you polishing putins anti-imperialism knob when he is playing out his imperial fantasy games just like the leader of every major world power? oh wait, its because he represents the glorious communist past and can do no wrong. besides, who cares whether or not he's "personally responsible", you dont need to give out explicit orders to lynch mobs attacking the scapegoat for the ills of modern russia.
