my "holocaust" (really only a peaceful tapering off through alteration in births) seems very unlikely to happen, while pornography Exists and the vast majority of men consume it on a regular basis, to the point of using a considerable portion of our communication infrastructure to feed their habit. not sure you can say you want to "live in peace" when you apparently require constant access to women's bodies to do so.

because most people on rhizzone and everywhere dont stick their neck out by arguing what they actually believe, and hide behind irony&apathy. so its pretty rare&interesting to talk to someone who is willing to make a stand for their actual views, even if ithey are deeply flawed and creepy

yes they do. they just don't reveal them because their beliefs are not "fit for publication" (like most personal beliefs) and will attract a lot of criticism if openly discussed.

come on, Ive not been around here for as long as you have but Ive never seen anyone get really angry at other people like they do on D&D for example. Only some border cases (sometimes someone will seem to get angry but then get ironic again quickly to keep face)

Not really, its a very effective cloak. For example, like me at some earlier times, youve been trying to read peoples intentions and hidden emotions/insecurities. However its difficult because they can always deny any fault through irony. And in any case there is never much info to go by.
My own theory of rhizzone is that it is kind of a halfway house where former hardcore idealists cope with the metamorphosis into detached academics or unremarkable middle class people. irony allows them to keep some attatchment to their ideals (like when they were younger) while also keeping a distance (like theyre going to do in the future).

Well I cant say anything for sure about rhizzoners but in terms of history, transition from hardcore idealist to middle class liberal isnt all that rare. for example: a bunch of baby boomers, leftists after 1956, christopher hitchens, possibly goatstein(?)
You have to ask yourself though, if all rhizzoners are still deeply commited idealists or whatevr why are they all posting ironically? It doesnt really do anything for giving advice or informing the noobs who come to Rhizzone to ride the old LF spirit. In fact seeing any seriousness is very hard in this forum, other than a few people (like you, ilmdge&some others who nciely linked me some blogs)
