correction: In Gene Rottenbury's Nightmare Socialest Hellhole Future, differently-abled PoC's are actually a privileged and power-holding majority; it is the masculine white heterosexual male who has been thrust upon the trash heap of history, enslaved and beholden to Radical Feminist lesbian Admirals and bald Shakespearean incels

in fact, in "The Measure of a Man" (s2e09) it is established that Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets (successors of today's UN and Democrat party) considered Data, one of the last of the rational heterosexual white human males in existence, as little more than property, a physical curiosity or relic to be cut open and studied by their Pan-Jewish scientists and miscegenating species betrayers. People who said the economy was the most important issue to them, and who disapproved of Obama’s economic record, were shown a graph of nonfarm employment over the prior year – a rising line, adding about a million jobs. They were asked whether the number of people with jobs had gone up, down or stayed about the same. Many, looking straight at the graph, said down.

lol scientists are obamailures

not sure what your point is here, nonfarm employment is the standard measure of employment used by the US government and when you hear people on the news say "the US gained x number of jobs last month" they're referring to nonfarm employment statistics from the BLS

all science is bad and wrong. anyone doing science should quit and instead post on the internet about how its wrong. science is a tool of capitalists and will be abolished and making quantitative analyses will be a capital offense

Is e=mc2 a sexed equation? Perhaps it is. Let us make the hypothesis that it is insofar as it privileges the speed of light over other speeds that are vitally necessary to us. What seems to me to indicate the possible sexed nature of the equation is not directly its uses by nuclear weapons, rather it is having privileged what goes the fastest

thats obv true but the left in general is really really hostile to science and it really confuses me

like, that quote would be 9001% better if it had even a little bit of "well obviously this is true, but...". the quote itself is obviously designed to be shocking, so i cant feel too bad when it gets taken out of context. just looking at SR as a simple statement about speed is also ignoring a bunch of context, which irigary obv has some understanding of (e.g. the nuclear weapons ref) but doesnt get in the way of a great radical-sounding quote. its literally the exact same thing that makes sokal a jackass.

the left only seems hostile to science in comparison to the feeble and mentally anemic fops who, forever searching for any position from which they can lord superior to others, mix loony tunes and academia and claim it as there own

ok ... but all the communist states that have ever existed, especially the ones you like to vocally admire and whose leaders you like to quote, have employed mechanized agriculture, developed nuclear reactors (and weapons), invested extensively in medical research ... it seems that communist regimes produce things that capital finds valuable, while capital produces knowledge and infrastructure that communism can inhabit or repurpose. hmmm what does it all mean

there are lots of green parties that want homeopathy to be funded like actual medicine. so maybe saying "the left" is too general but there are large sections that do. its the same deal with anti-GMO legislation being promoted because GMOs are "unnatural" as the main argument instead of private control of the food supply. ditto nuclear power backlash

that's a really silly quote but irigaray has produced useful theoretical work, she is obviously speaking ironically about a superficial matter in order to allude to deeper bias, and the only reason this quote gets passed around is to clown at feminists, demoralize them, and exclude feminist thought from science

which countries do you have in mind? i said before that i agree that saying "the left" is overly general and that i specifically have in mind a lot of the "green" parties that you find in the west, e.g. in the US and germany which promote "alternative medicine" or in france where nuclear power has more or less been abandoned entirely.

soviet union, yugoslavia, bulgaria, even pre-dengist china and cuba all poured in a lot of resources into science. in the soviet bloc countries and balkan communist states in general the positions with the most perks after like generals or party leaders was being a research scientist at an institute or university. even like during the worst rebuilding post ww2 yugoslavia, my grandparents got the largest apartment they could get (3 bedrooms and 2 offices, but they had 2 children and my greatgrandmother staying with them), they would be given travel grants, they even had a part-time housekeeper so that they could focus on their research. i mean, all of this is very modest by western bourgeois standards, but it does show where the priorities laid.
