mccaine was right. the fact that marxism is unpopular proves it isn't a theory of morality. people who want socialism to be a morality tale have to explain why socialism does not prevail. marxism is the first theory of politics to account for its own failure and to explain why eventually it will probably be successful without recourse to ideas of duty.

I dont disagree with any of that (re: marxism as history vs morality) but surely practicing Marxism involves being able to explain to working class people and potential comrades why it's a better historical theory than liberal ideology and why they should work with x organization to prepare for teh revolution

Which imo american communists (subject of thred) have been bad at on the street level (i.e. non academic) for a while but things are improving
