no but it has dissolves in the middle of battle sequences to slightly later during the same fight, and at the end, everyone on the set literally stops and goes silent for about five seconds in the exact pose of the Joy painting

tp, it wasnt some half backed backstory, it was actually the main point of the movie. the use of space was metaphorical and also a good excuse to make some really interesting/intense visual effects

also legolas shows up in the trailer for the next hobbit movie and was all like wtf?! hes not in the hobbit!

i didnt say he wasnt alive during the events that occur during the hobbit, im saying he wasnt involved. if tolkien wanted to have thranduil's son pop up when the dwarves are in thranduils caves, he damn well would have. next thing you know gimlis gonna show up all like "dad why didnt you take me on this dragon killing adventure?!?"
