Idiots ruining a program that is supposed to be there to help people. But you give some people an inch and they'll take a mile.

The worst part is that these idiots perfectly play right up to the image of the "unproductive scum who abuse the system for their own gain" so often totted out by those against such programs.

seriously though from a hard left perspective isn't it a good thing that first worlders "can't afford" food? isn't junk food industrial agriculture bad for the environment and human health?

MTWism is apparently just an excuse for middle class first worlders to bash lower-class first worlders. at least for some people.

i know you're always ragging on MTW for doing this but it's straight up liberalism that has a monopoly on that shit dude: just look at the national conversation on obesity and watch how quick middle class peeps start ragging on the poor for not cooking up some arugula quinoa salad every night

or on a global level, bemoaning corruption and poverty in Africa while literally powering their cars with food that could be feeding people

Poors are fat because poverty leads to depression and generally not giving a shit, not economics and I'm tired of people pretending otherwise. Tip: even if literally the only food you have access to is doritos and McDonald's, it's cheaper to eat 2000 calories of doritos and McDonald's than 4000.

Also love that line about how poor people are just too busy to cook or work out. Wonder how many dozens of hours of TV are watched weekly by the average person who is just too busy. Plus all the fatties on disability or unemployment. Just too busy! This infomercial isn't going to watch itself!

I remember recently there was a thread in D&D where all the goons were bitching about how poor they were and how busy they were and somebody made a compilation of steam screenshots showing them playing a minimum of 60 hours of videogames a week

The South Side of Chicago, conceptional no grocery stores except maybe some liquor stores/convenience stores, thats a good desert. They are very real.

As far as "food not being a big issue", it is quite obvious people do use dollar/value menus quite extensively, do you think they are just defective people that deserve their fate because you obviously figured it out by using a crock pot for 5 hours? (How about if someone is hungry now?)

good lord, think of the horror that is being unable to eat a meal for five hours because of ones own poor planning. Because all cooking takes five hours! however will our obese citizenry go without eating for five hours?

#67
100% of obesity is caused by Big Pharma and sugary/aspartamey soft drinks, if you stick to water/tea and refuse to take your court-ordered meds you can eat as much as you want and never get fat

The only class dynamic that is relevant is how poverty makes people not give a shit. Actually I guess that there's also the part where if you're already broken you're more likely to be poor. Not a lot of CEOs living in houses with 40 mummified cats crushed under newspapers from the 1980s iirc
