me. i lift 4 days a week doing a 5/3/1 routine. nothing extreme, most of my lifts are intermediate by EXRX standards. i have some kind of problem with my left knee so I can't do squats anymore and I think going heavy on deadlifts is fucking with my back and I hurt my shoulder about two weeks ago so I haven't lifted since then. stalin.

i've been doing about 3 days a week, full body every time. usually do bench, squats, power cleans + jerks, deadlifts, and then rotate some shit based on whatever station is open and how long my lifting buddy wants to stay--usually like tricep pull downs, calf raises, skull-crushers, military presses, flys, etc. it varies at times because i'm a university gym that's often packed as hell, so i'm can't get to both the olympic mats or squat rack every time unfortunately.

what do you do?
#9
i'm pretty fit, i've never really lifted weights though... not sure of all the reasons, part of it is, i think many kinds of lifting are not worth the risk of physical injury, that become statistically likely as they are part of your routine, or at least, i dont trust myself to properly avoid those injuries. i think right now i'm in the best shape of my entire life although i need to bike a loop through manhattan to compare myself to a couple years ago. idk what do people see as necessary about lifting, that other forms of exercise cannot satisfy.

because it's manly and you get ripped?

#13
i go to the gym and make a bunch of grunts while seated on a machine press to give the illusion of lifting but dually functioning as an excuse for abnormally long rest between sets in order to check out which bros are looking thick, tight, and solid in their spandex bicycle shorts. then i go over and aggressively spot them while shouting 1 liners from rocky 4

im doing squats and bench press 3 days/week and looking for ideas to supplement, naturally this site was the best place to turn, elemmennopp, your post is v. helpful.

i mean swampman, you can just google health benefits of weight training and you will find your answers, but the real answer is weight-lifting prevents you from sinking into degeneracy. otherwise, you might wake up and find that you've become, for example, a montessori educated brooklynite that can't grow a moustache.

i started doing olympic weightlifting shit like 2 months ago, and it's just the most exhausting shit in the world. when i finish my sets of clean+jerks i just feel like killing myself, which is naturally the opportune time to do deadlifts

Squat, deadlift, push, pull, twist and core!

I checked out a nearby gym a couple weeks ago, went inside and it was exactly what I expected it would be. Left satisfied that I wasn't being closed-minded, and that the people and activities there really are as stupid and pointless as ever.

heh what image led you to believe i can't grow a mustache, was it the one with my dog bit nose? well if i must post a refutation, this is my admittedly untrimmed mustache a couple months ago. even now my hair is longer and more beautiful fyi than even in this photograph
#24
I do a 3 day split. Lifting weights is good for your bone density and will help you avoid injury by being strong, swampmaster. You're not gonna survive the hazards of old age by just kickin dog skulls down the street 5x a week. You need more resistance training.

if you're able to be consistent with workign out 3 days I'd say come up with a program that splits out your upper, lower and core muscle groups. it'll optimize it so your body is recovering faster, as opposed to doing full body workouts each day which doesn't give your body a lot of time to heal. that said, I'd say it's even more important to find a program that you actually enjoy doing.

this is what i do. i go three days a week and alternate between arms/shoulders, back/abs, legs, and chest/shoulders or abs. i do shrugs every time though because i used to have bad posture and it really helps to have linebacker shoulder/neck muscles

everybody hates leg day but i love it. not a fan of deadlifts though, but thats cause i dont have good form and cant push the weight or else i hurt my back

i recommend lifting because it releases mad endorphins

#36
also it makes you attractive to the opposite sex
#37
i lift 4 days a week. mondays are upper body pull exercise days, wednesdays are lower body days, thursdays are upper body push exercise days, and fridays are the dreaded deadlift and lower back days. lifting owns and makes you feel good pretty much all the time unless you're doing it wrong or way too much.
#38
i lift my arms to get the PBR off my stomach
