A top environmental activist has been making some odd claims about child sexuality, reports the Washington Free Beacon.

Pennsylvania anti-fracking activist and director of Citizens for Clean Water Vera Scroggins said that parents “should have sexual relationships with their children and expose them to sexually explicit imagery at a young age,” reports the Free Beacon.

“Are there cultures that mothers or fathers pleasure their children and teenagers sexually or genitally and also possibly initiate them into sexual expression at some point?” she asked in a 2001 message to a Yahoo group called Peacelist.

The group is dedicated to “the advancement of the human species by restoring its natural peacefulness, through the means of affectionate parenting and sexual freedom.”

“I have had intuitive thoughts that such would be a healthy way for parents to interact with their children and introduce their children to sensual/sexual pleasure and bonding and loving practices,” Scroggins added. “Who better to do it, than the parents first?”

The Free Beacon reports that Peacelist was moderated by Erik Möller, a German author and deputy director of the Wikimedia Foundation, who has pushed “the importance of ‘Mothering’ and of youth affectional sexual relationships for peaceful and loving behaviors.”

Scroggins became famous for berating filmmaker Phelim McAleer whose documentary, FrackNation, aimed at clearing up myths surrounding hydraulic fracturing.

In another post to the Yahoo group, Scroggins said she “thought it was strange that something natural, beautiful, and human should be kept hidden, especially from children. Children can lead the way in showing us sexuality and sensuality in their own, unique, innocent, way if allowed from birth to own their bodies in every pleasurable and expressive way.”

Scroggins apparently also used Peacelist to advocate nudism.

“I do feel comfortable and not a sex object at nudist gatherings and lovely to be surrounded by all sizes and shapes — feel innocent and like a child, playful,” Scroggins wrote.
