A gun lobbyist in Utah had this insane domestic violence trial recently. upon further investigation it was a early 90s civilian hummer. schwarzenegger style. which I can respect, fucking up someone's rhododendrons while screaming "fuck you bitch" and blasting too short. if I were the judge I would discount that incident because it's so awesome but send him to the draper pen for 69 yrs for owning 300 guns and having a goatee.

re: wife thing. wow. its stuff like this that makes me see the whole thing as some grandiose theater. you're telling me that not but a couple weeks after zimmer has assuredly left center stage, his wife goes on tv and reveals things which completely uproot and shift the entire discussion? just as the add media has comfortably moved on, only needing to hear out a few more rants about the racist nature of the entire debacle, this wife comes on with such a perspective that reignites debate over the entire framework of the situation. wow.

Really, even the whole racial aspect of the killing: a just vaguely non-white man kills a black teen; "uh, hello, zim's not white guys, why are you making this about race??". the whole structure of the racial dynamic is so fitting and easily compartmentalized into "party lines" for the american political-pop consumers to digest. Perhaps it's only been reconceptualized in such a manner, given the media-consumerist framework, but even so the division is handled so efficiently that it hides the constructed nature of the situation.

If anything, while not literal theater (I'm not denying Martin's death here), this story still demonstrates such fascinating and scrupulous work by the pop media. It's terrifying to see the competency deployed here in manufacturing this entire discussion. At first I wanted to call it a "perfect storm" of how the events unfolded, but I really think that does a disservice to the skills of the gatekeepers in regards to their thought control.

lol ffs the fact that this never came up during the trial is the nail in the coffin proving the state intentionally threw the case. deliberate overcharging, non-zealous prosecution, multiple implicit internalized confirmations of the defense's bullshit story, and most hilariously of all, resting their entire case on proving to an almost all white jury that the defendant, a fat pinheaded job-stealing mexican, was actually the whitest whitey in the room
