Other than the rare Orlando thread about how much he rides his bike or what pair of pants catches his fancy, it seems like the honeymoon period for our little rhizzone gentrifiers is over. From dog walking, to union work on a Saturday, to Crow's absence/possible drug binges, to ringing the bell on a bike, and to newcomers like roseweird, it seems like the shine of the big apple seems to have lost a little bit of that luster that once captured the uninitiated eye. This forum just seems lost without the focal point of NYC. So this is your chance to reflect on your growth and maturation in that cancerous city that Christopher Nolan spent a trilogy defending to the point of embracing fascism.

Here's a little regional classic to set the mood

it's really weird that leftists are so keen to embrace a city that has absolutely no values that aren't rooted in ruthless capitalism. Yet they can't get enough of it; the citadels of capital, the ethnic food, the uhh........is it like how some chicks like bad boys because they think they can change them?

i guess it's not that far from cool places like pittsburg and toronto

I like new york and working on saturdays for the union. I love the union. the work I do at the union is so personally fulfilling some days that I worry my body will fall apart before my will does. sometimes I don't even get to use my computer. my personal phone has fallen apart and now all I have is my work phone. I am in great physical shape from climbing probably 30 stories of stairs per day and hiking around manhattan. I love my job. sometimes I wish I could work a little less but it's fine, this is a busy season for everyone

self-aggrandize off a 30 story building

i'm moving to the pitt in a couple of months. from one honest, studious liberal to another, just how cool is pittsburgh?

(lonely lurker pittsburgh derail. fuck to the new yorkers)

Pittsburgh is nice but much quieter than someplace like New York. Where are you moving from and what neighborhood are you going to live in? I like that I can eat lunch in an old cafe and feel like I'm on main-street in a tiny PA town, but still enjoy all the amenities of a major metropolis. I DON'T like that bars close at 2 and buses stop running at 1. Also nobody there even knows what a hipster is.
