she has the mentality of Must Complete The Mission To Bring The Stick further along wherever we are going (its the same for tennis balls, just i didnt have one today)

she sorts of brings it back, except i havent trained her right.
when i call her she will drop the object and come to me, or else drop it and immediately start digging furiously... if i wait around she will eventually drop it at my feet & i will throw it for her to chase.

with dogs if she has no ball she will run around & play wiht them; if she has somehting she will just run past them

ok. i would say first off, from now on, if she has an object, you do not pay attention to her at all unless she puts the object down next to you.

take her to an enclosed, empty area where you can practice this. a paved area, like a tennis court, would be best so she doesn't try to dig. once she is dropping the ball off reliably, you can start making her sit before you will throw the ball.

start interspersing treat rewards with the reward of throwing the ball. sometimes she gets another throw, sometimes she gets a treat and the ball goes away. you want to increase the frequency of treat rewards, decrease the frequency of ball rewards, then decrease the frequency of treat rewards.

you can also give her toys that contain smelly treats. she will start to prefer toys that smell like food and ignore toys that don't. of course this will be very limited. labradors love to play fetch, it's what they were bred to do, so maybe you're one who needs to get with the program.

carrying a stick along on walks probably makes her feel good. you can bring the behavior under your control by selecting the stick she plays with (a longer one that you can help carry), or by bringing a more desirable object with you everywhere.

if she is a good swimmer you should take her to trusty water so you can make her swim out to fetch the tennis ball. this will give her great exercise. she probably needs it because she is probably fat.

your lucky numbers are 17, 24, 25, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 35.5, 36, 37.25, 41, 410, 410410, and 1234567.

i thought my dog was all cattle dog/husky mix, but she loves tennis ball fetch more than anything in the world (except maybe me) so im guessing she has something else in her. shes also really good around guns, and retrieves unexploded clay pigeons :itisamystery:

my brother's dog loves fetch so much. some dogs when they bring back something will screw around and not really give it back, she gives it back always. if you don't pick it back up, she'll pick it up and bring it closer to you or drop it in your lap. she will NEVER stop, she will go forever if you don't stop throwing it, literally forever. if it goes under a couch or osmething she starts barking until you help free it. AND, if she had her way she would never interact with humans ever except for fetching. she'll usually just scamper off if you try to pet her or anything. she exists only to fetch. the other weird thing about her is that she prefers to return little scraps of something, like a small piece of fuzz from a tennis ball or maybe a woman's hair tie or something. tiny pieces of fuzz that came out of some stuffed animal. stuff that doesn't even fly when you throw it until she gets her saliva all over it and then it starts traveling well and sticking to the wall. cool dog

Can someone convince me to continue watching the sopranos? I am about half way through season two and it is nothing like I thought it would be. I thought there would be more mafia drama and violence its really just becoming white family problems and I just can't handle that. Does it get a lot better or is this kind of the theme the show will have?
#544
I recommend HBO's hit trot dramedy "Girls"
