But to be serious for a moment: The current Rejection of pomo ideas in main stream sociology, history, anthropology (less so) etc etc drives me insane given that they're currently being used whole hog by all of every 1 in power politically economically and so on these guys are Embracing Positivism while the wheels of Power are being turned by Manufactured Narrative and they're worthless, as people and disciplines.(the poster)

well i think its the "wrong" kind of rejection, perhaps? like they're not even bothering to instrumentalise them like the Powerful are
#45
yeah basically
#46
do you mean popular or academic fields because i haven't encountered much resistance to postmodern thought whatsoever in my experience with those fields

Several of the concepts in A Thousand Plateaus became instrumental for us…Most important was the distinction they have pointed out between the concepts of “smooth” and “striated” space…In the IDF we now often use the term “to smooth out space” when we want to refer to operation in a space as if it had no borders…We want to confront the “striated” space of traditional, old-fashioned military practice with smoothness that allows for movement through space that crosses any borders and barriers.

ugh no, i tried drinking that shit once and it was gross

what i dont get is, if pomo theorists have chopped up and repointed all previously existing chains of signification, arent they pretty much shredding pre-existing ideology at a similar or greater rate than their history-less replacement narratives can create it?

i feel like pomo marketing in this sense is less like nyarlathotep under the earth than just a ton of earthworms making it fertile for whatever the next great materially rooted Thing turns out to be

I'm not sure about pomo, but real sociologists and anthropologists love post-structuralism. Foucault is post-structuralist right?

yeah.. id say the last ten years or so have seen a backlash against 'pomo' or Theory in many fields that ive been exposed to. Theory's Empire in literature for example.

about 8 years ago, a prof who zizek described as one of the worlds foremost hegelians told the class that theory was kind of like a huge bubble that is now deflating, that we should avoid writing like foucault and judith butler, and that we should use simple words
