fair point. its just that as someone who has struggled with an entire lifetime of relationship and career-destroying anxiety, and who once experienced a continuous month-long panic attack completely indistinguishable from my own personal concept of Hell, i feel more than comfortable speaking frankly about the subject

and, being an adult, i recognize that "being triggered" or as i personally describe it, "freaking out", is a symptom of my disease, and a purely internal phenomenon whose existence is no ones responsibility but my own

generalized anxiety disorder is after all, at the end of the day nothing more than a form of privilege, and almost exclusively the product of relatively safe and sedentary First World lifestyles

man you suck

no of course not, i mean in queer films, of course, and this french comedy i saw once, but never anything in mainstream media. even the l word didn't do this that i can remember

there was a lovable butch lesbian working on their house in the l word. i can't remember what the plot was though so maybe she ended up stealing or something.

yeah that's Lisa.

anyway, the person i was thinking of was Weezie, but i can't remember if she ever evolves to her true form:

the reason why calling ellen butch was laughable was because it was a joke.

lol I remember that guy on the L word who was like "I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body but for real" and he wanted to get with lesbians all the time and they were too nice to gut him and wear his skin as a joke immediately. that's season 3

possibly identifying with something like this even for a microsecond is why i have never watched the L word

also the women are really hot and it seems 100% exploitative

but then i think wait can't they be hot???? no yes no yes help and then my head explodes. basically just best for me to avoid the whole thing

heres a positive portrayal of a lesbian in the media: Naughty Allie, opposite Taylor Little in "I Fucked Taylor Little."

What is it with gay people and dividing themselves into a billion different cliques based around minute differences in style and body shape. Like is this really an issue, that there aren't enough positive portrayals of lesbians in flannel? A real issue is that there are very few women, gay or straight, in any media that don't meet traditional standards of beauty. Frankly I don't care if there are few positive portrayals of muscle bears or any other tiny specific subgroup of an already small minority in the media.

I honestly have no clue why Ellen isn't a butch lesbian but Maddow is, I dunno what difference is you see.

I've also often found it awkward meeting a lesbian who's really butch for the first time because I start wondering if they're actually a transman and worry I'll offend them by using the wrong pronoun.

so what happens in the l word, what is it about. i mean i know it's about lesbians, but what do they do

the l-word is a critique of homosexuality as bourgeois decadence. the show features various privileged lesbians living horrible petty lives.

it was about their intertwined sex lives and the balance between fighting for who you are and living a normal life. some of the main characters included an art school dean, a radio personality, a tennis player, a hairstylist, a cafe owner, etc.
