You’re right though about the sleep. I didn’t have those nightmares too much but when I quit: boy howdy was it strange having vivid dreams again

I also get sleep paralysis/terrors a bit but if you ride the wave it can be fun and enriching

what are you on about khamzek. tenure is around 6 years. assistant professors are appointed to two three year terms after which they need to get tenure or wash out. although they can apply for a clock stoppage for a year to put it on hold. source: my JOB

well yeah you can call em whatever and give em whatever rank i guess but they're still gap fillers hired because the school doesnt have a big enough faculty for all its teaching outlays. so they're not tenure track people but part-timers with the sole responsibility of being instructor for some course... as opposed to the full faculty whose duties include research especially, also service and program development along with the instructional responsibilities. abnd also instructional responsilities beyond specific courses. anyway when Aspie Economist talks about becoming a professor and getting tenure in six years i assume he's not talking about being an adjunct, and if he's not, he's right on the mark with it being six years according to the literal requirements/rules, at least in my experience

They're famous within their academic clique. Additionally they treasure the power and hierarchy they have over teachers assistants and staff.

Picture this in your mind- imagine if you could post everything you're posting now, but it will get published in reputable academic journals, people will sit and listen to you at conferences, and you can force your students to read it and give glowing reviews. Wouldn't anyone like that?

yeah idk how anyone expects this to happen even now. the adjunct thing is too seductive for all the businesspeople who run educational institutions now. why would you ever want tenured employees? sorry, education is ruined forever. it's cool to read about how it used to be though
