agreed, posting war alone brings up to their highest tension all posting energies and puts the stamp of nobility upon the posters who have the courage to meet it.

why "third world" outdated or silly term
"developing world" even worse and weasellier term for it implies those poor benighted nations just need to Embrace Light Of Neoliberalism and then they can become just like fat white pplAgreed. I prefer core, periphery, and semi-periphery myself but I don't know how much wallerstein maggotmaster has read
im still trying to figure out how to properly mangle "within" and "without" into a suitable pair of terms for this

a while back i had a half-baked scheme to rile up impper with an elaborate long-term troll characterizing celine as the HST of his era. but then i saw him vaguely praise HST so that great idea went in the trash

ahahha... yes in fact i do like HST a lot, he wasnt terribly original (wow a tough guy writer) or brilliant (shot himself because bush won? what a pussington) but he's bold and strong and was a great influence for me early on as far as "what writers can do" and stuff like that. also had all the right attitudes
i never read HST as a "tough guy" he always seemed like a big nerd to me but maybe i was identifying with mah hero

i think i identified with him as a "tough guy" for the very same reason. he was my hero for a while haha. but then i grew up

hehe, just running the table on terrible american authors. but yes you're right, though i've never heard of someone "getting deep" with vollman or updike

bukowski has always rubbed me very much the wrong way in his writing, so much so that i'm mostly unable to read enough of it to decide if i hate it

download the album of him reading his poems. its the best way to get the sense of a poet. and bukowski was a really miserable guy who lived a miserable life. so in a sense it's ~true~ but once the novelty of that wears off it's just a gross drunk guy being gross and miserable. but what do i know, i'm not even pureblooded white
