reinhardt and rogoff study on debt to gdp ratios has been debunked. probably won't make a difference and private debt is still being ignored.

bowles and simpson are back, obama is showing willingness to cut social security.

post your favorite cuts to social programs, privatizations, etc

reinhardt and rogoff are economists who did a study to promote austerity that has been influential in the us, europe, and possibly elsewhere. bowles and simpson are dudes who headed a deficit cutting commission ordered by obama. i'll add links later when i have more time maybe

i hope they find an excel sheet error that totally debunks capitalism. then everyone will admit they were wrong and we can roll out the socialist state, if not full blown communism

Liberal economics has already been refuted. As for social security that's a liberal scheme as is everything else you mentioned. Probably the most important cut to social programs are in Europe, that's why Greek fertility rate has been increasing all through the austerity crisis.

That's called countercyclical Keynesian fiscal policy.

I know you blew that off but the fact that fertility is going up in Greece is really remarkable, it shows just how effective social security has been in annihilating the white race.

For more than a decade, suitcases, plastic bags, and backpacks filled with tens of millions of U.S. dollars were delivered monthly to the office of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai as a “courtesy” from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), The New York Times reported, citing current and former Afghan advisers on Monday.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai confirms secret US cash 'help'
Karzai Mr Karzai said his office "appreciated" the assistance, which helped with several legitimate ventures

The Afghan president has admitted his office received secret payments from the US, but says the amounts were small and used legitimately. Hamid Karzai was responding to a New York Times report that alleged the CIA sent suitcases stuffed with cash to the president's office on a regular basis.

Willa I'm honestly not trying to butt heads with you (again), but I think it's a mistake to refer to entitlement cuts as austerity. Austerity is not 'cuts we don't like', it's an economic theory for a specific situation, which is that governments faced with recession should slash spending immediately in order to reduce their deficits, which will boost confidence and spur the economy, which will increase government revenue further reducing deficits.

Austerity is complete B.S., but by accepting the framing that entitlement cuts are austerity you've conceded that entitlement cuts are a deficit issue. SS spending is not contributing to the deficit.* Nor does it contribute to the lagging economy. C-CPI would not slash spending immediately it phases in over a long time so it doesn't fit the theory of austerity, at all. Basically the deficit is just a convenient cover to justify cutting entitlements for completely different reasons. Reducing the deficit sounds like a good thing to most people, but C-CPI would not do that and we should help as many people as possible understand that entitlement spending and deficits are not linked and won't be linked for a very long time.

* FICA revenue does however contribute to the deficit because by statute the surplus goes into t-bills, and thus the SS surplus *on paper* looks like federal deficit, but no one is proposing reducing FICA withholdings
