You should have gotten out when you had the chance! Now look at you.

wargamer.com. In 2004. What a long strange trip its been
discipline posted:it's v. strange there are so many lurkers from SA. this is, I feel, nothing like SA but the nostalgia keeps you coming back?
I've never posted on SA, I think I had a friend with an account in like 6th grade. I thought it was the same thing as rotten.com for a long time. I found this forum from a facebook friend who used to post here and link to it - he was an old internet acquaintance going back to this forum about baseball video games we used to post on.
EDIT: I didn't know that url would make a link. Don't click on Meat Grinder II!

also, the relationship between tpizzle and fringus is complex and fascinating and better than anything on any tv show currently running

I've been lurking since before LF existed and I'll continue lurking long after the last remnants of LF have died. I am the Ur-lurker. I lurk outside of time and space. I have always been watching and will continue to watch long after the last LF-poster has departed this realm of existence.
ngl, so far this is my favorite lurk.
oh man, it was so dreadful having to skim past all those IWC monologues inbetween but i'm happy to come back since yesterday afternoon and see all my fellow lurksters with the real talk.
per discipline's request, i def didn't post because i'm still a baby socialist imo and like some other lurkyloos mentioned, i appreciated smarter talk about things i didn't get exposed to with my wankster poli sci degree. redfiesta, i'm also kinda voyeuristic by nature like you. and finally: the reflexive, ironic, misogynistic, replies to most any post are boring as fuck and too reminiscent of real life. that's when the rhizzone is no longer an escape!

The white noise or shitposting on the rhizzone is vastly superior to ye-olde lf for a variety of reasons. You will always have more readers than contributors, which means the lack of readership results in even fewer posters. Whereas an LF thread could go pages between good content, a zzone thread can get earnest posts multiple times per page. There is a nice split of casual/joke posting that breaks up the giant blocks of topic some posters may write. The D&D megathreads are exactly what you don't want to see, the sheer volume of text is a deterrent. While it is desired in novel format, the last thing you want in a forum is long-winded post after long-winded post. It is the same in real life conversation. a quick joke can break up the conversation and help pace things, whereas either extreme (only blocks of text or only emptyquoting) is tedious and annoying. I think the joking helps to break up the diatribe-havers as well, who want to argue treatises at eachother.
Personalities are another great contributing factor to the rhizzone.
I think the joking that is almost always only about women and rape helps to bleehhhhh
sooo that's how i feel about that but on your other point, yes i agree. i don't think all us lurkers should be out in full effect. it was a call out by me since i was interested based on conversations i had with ma lady of the forum. i also wanted to know what people did with the information we learn from here, like, do they try to apply it irl? good answers. carry on, regulars and for all the lurkers who are still lurking this thread: harumph!
