the reason why am I here is because i simply like this place and i liked lf but I don't have a good reason to lurk. lurking is some sort of perverse enjoyment for me, like voyeurism. you can watch all the discussion without saying a single word forever and nobody will call you out for it like IRL social situations. nobody will ever say "so what's your opinion redfiesta?" i find that cool. i know this probably tells me something about my self-esteem and neuroses, but I don't worry about all that anymore.

I've never posted on SA, I think I had a friend with an account in like 6th grade. I thought it was the same thing as rotten.com for a long time. I found this forum from a facebook friend who used to post here and link to it - he was an old internet acquaintance going back to this forum about baseball video games we used to post on.

The white noise or shitposting on the rhizzone is vastly superior to ye-olde lf for a variety of reasons. You will always have more readers than contributors, which means the lack of readership results in even fewer posters. Whereas an LF thread could go pages between good content, a zzone thread can get earnest posts multiple times per page. There is a nice split of casual/joke posting that breaks up the giant blocks of topic some posters may write. The D&D megathreads are exactly what you don't want to see, the sheer volume of text is a deterrent. While it is desired in novel format, the last thing you want in a forum is long-winded post after long-winded post. It is the same in real life conversation. a quick joke can break up the conversation and help pace things, whereas either extreme (only blocks of text or only emptyquoting) is tedious and annoying. I think the joking helps to break up the diatribe-havers as well, who want to argue treatises at eachother.

Personalities are another great contributing factor to the rhizzone.

sooo that's how i feel about that but on your other point, yes i agree. i don't think all us lurkers should be out in full effect. it was a call out by me since i was interested based on conversations i had with ma lady of the forum. i also wanted to know what people did with the information we learn from here, like, do they try to apply it irl? good answers. carry on, regulars and for all the lurkers who are still lurking this thread: harumph!

I'm mostly a lurker, but I post once in awhile. Really liked LF back in the day, was pissed when it left. Posted on WDDP for awhile before I got banned for hypothetically theorizing that the only way that the Occupy movement would get lasting results was through violence. Kicked around for awhile till I found out about this site.
Been making bad concern posts ever since.

In WDDP back when those photographs came out of troops pissing on dead taliban fighters some poster said "Yet nobody cares about the countless live slaves being peed on camera for people's pleasure!" and it got a bunch of up votes. Those people live in an interesting reality.
