yes, to get a govt security clearance you can not have had membership in any sort of group dedicated to the overthrow of the US govt. pretty outrageous imo

it seems entirely possible to both enjoy the irony of the matter of fact presentation style painting obviously true things as propaganda (soviet media tells their people that america is dysfunctional!) whilst simultaneously recognizing that it indeed performed the informing function that you describe for Reagan

yep, though again, they didnt say it was just "propaganda" as in made up lies, but simply demonstrated a contrast in emphasis in the countries' respective medias. it didnt claim that any of those stories the soviets like(d) to highlight(ed) were untrue (past tense because communism is dead forever)
