i read houellebecq's letters with bernard-henri lévy and realised about halfway through that lévy isn't a real person, he's a character i made up in a story

gv really likes bruno schulz she was trying to show it to me but it was way too faggy for me. this ermine czernopol book is a lot better though, it seems, i haven't read too much of it i'm just reading a bunch of nazi stuff & war memoirs instead of actual literature

i thot it was really pretentious & gay but then you get to the point in the beckett paragraph about the act of writing being shameful in itself. this seems a lot better than the previous for some reason, maybe because it's talking about the writing act rather than just yourself and your feelings about the words being in U

in summary i really like this piece except for the stuff you wrote about yourself, which isn't really convincing for an essay on why not to write, but i did like the thing about the masseuse. i didnt care about how you wrote as a kid or that you dont have a novel in U. but the stuff about writing in general is really "quality," imo. i told gv that you wrote an essay on why not to write and she said youre a jew and you should marry her jew friend
